The Class 5 teacher is Miss Sibson
Hello and welcome to Class 5 and another exciting year at St Anne’s!
It’s lovely to see everyone back at school and enjoying their learning, even I things are a bit different this year – we still have a lot of fun topics to learn about. In Science, we are going to be finding out about everything from life cycles to forces by competing lots of different scientific investigations. We also have new history topics, such as The Gunpowder Plot and lots of exciting books and texts to read and enjoy.
This year the adults working with Class Five are Miss Sibson, Mrs Rees, Mrs English, Mrs Shreeve and Mrs Armstrong. Our PE day is a Thursday, so remember to bring your kit in – make sure it is nice warm clothing for the winter months.
At home, it would be really useful for you to practise your times tables and don’t forget, you should also be reading for thirty minutes each day.
Also don’t forget Google Classrooms is there for you to use to help with your learning! This is a great resource that the school has. You can take quizzes, watch videos and read or listen to stories on it. And there is more to come!
Whilst the school is closed to most children, Miss Sibson and Mrs Rees are working from home to deliver quality remote learning for children in Class 5.
The time table above gives families an idea of the learning plan for each day. It is recommended by the government that children should be spending between 3-4 hours on learning at home each day. Not all of this will be delivered through live teaching. Some lessons will be videoed and posted onto the year 5 Google Classroom page and some learning will be set as activities for children to do as independently as possible.
We appreciate that some families are having to fit remote learning around others and working commitments. We have tried to make all of the timetabling as flexible as possible so that you can log on when you can and access most learning to fit around your own busy lives.
It is really important that children engage with literacy and math's each day , spending approx. 1 hours on each. The afternoon activities focus on foundation subjects which children should engage with for an hour a day. In addition to this Children should be engaging in independent reading for 30mins a day as well as working on spellings and times tables.
Teachers are available on Google Classrooms daily to offer support and help for children. This can be done through messaging, small group and 1:1 online meetings. The school has also opened up access to Accelerated Reader so that children can complete reading quizzes at home. Click on the Remote Learning link on this page to find the URL link for Accelerated Reader
Due to the current COVID pandemic, the school is closed to all children except for those whos parents are Critical Workers and vulnerable children.
Learning has now moved online. St Anne's uses Google Classroom as its main tool in delivering online learning to children.
